Spring is a season of hope and renewal. It’s the perfect time to bring fresh ideas to your marketing campaigns. Here are a few social media content ideas for your business.

  1. CELEBRATE FUN SPRING HOLIDAYS.
Create content for the national holidays and hashtag holidays. A few of my favorites:
    April Fool’s Day / April 1
    Easter Sunday / April 17
Cinco de Mayo / May 5
    Mother’s Day / May 8

Be sure to also subscribe to COCOLILY Cafe; our sweet newsletter - where we provide you with a calendar of holidays and fun days for each month along with lots of inspiration for your small business x modern lifestyle.

TIP: For Mother’s Day, you can celebrate with a sale, free item with purchase or give each mom a single stem rose if you have a cafe, restaurant or brick and mortar shop. Add to this by donating a portion of sales to a charity that works with mothers and children. One of my favorites, Nanny Angel Network.

  2. SPRINGTIME PHOTO CONTEST.
Ask your customers to share a photo with a recent purchase they made from you or how they plan on using one of your services; tagging your business in the post. While they are sending in their photos, share the best posts on your Instagram feed. When you have chosen the most creative entry, give away a gift card to your shop, studio or service.

  3. SAVE THE TAX EVENT.
Create a special one-day offer where followers and customers pay no tax when they purchase or book with you. Be sure to notify your customers of this one day event via your newsletter also. In Canada, the day is May 2 and in the US it's April 18.

  4. EASTER-THEMED INTERACTIVE HUNT.
This is my favorite idea! Launch a digital Easter egg hunt for your followers and customers. Hide Easter eggs in your image posts on social media and encourage your followers to hunt for them. Step it up and expand the hunt onto your website by hiding eggs (whether it’s clip art or an actual stock photo of Easter eggs) on different pages of your site. This is an amazing way to send people to your website - and while they are searching for eggs, they might stumble upon something they never knew they needed!
You could offer gift cards, prizes or discount codes to the first five winners.

  5. SAY THANK YOU.
Create a ‘thank you’ image and post it on your social media, showing appreciation for your clients and customers. You can also have a ‘thank you’ day for them and provide a discount on your product or service. Another great idea is to personally message at least 100 of your followers on social media; thanking them for following you. Be sure to make it personal rather than a copy-paste format. This will open up communication with the people who love your brand. You can even ask them a question such as what do they love most about your brand, have they purchased anything recently and if so, did they love it? Go a step further and take it off social media by mailing your top 20 customers a handwritten note, thanking them for supporting your shop or service.

  6. SHARE WHAT’S NEW.
Update your followers by sharing what’s new at your business and what’s been going on behind the scenes. Whether it’s new hours, products, services, a seasonal deal or a new dining experience - you’ll want to share the fresh news.
