Lifestyle Changes for Happy + Healthy Living

Five Part Series : Part Two

Here is part two of our Lifestyle Changes Series that will hopefully continue to inspire you xxo

HEALTHY GREENS.
Try to sneak in something green and healthy into your diet The best way to do this would be one smoothie per day. A simple smoothie recipe can include kale, your favourite protein powder, handful of almonds or almond butter, your choice of fruit, pumpkin seeds, maca powder, cinnamon and you’re done!

HEALTHY SNACKS.
Always have something healthy to snack on in your purse or desk drawer - we recommend almonds or walnuts.

EAT SLOWLY.
Eat slowly if you can. Sometimes we are in a rush or as moms, we tend to just eat as we go and cook/feed the kids/clean. In a perfect world, we would have dinner with friends each night, good conversation, wine and that way we’d be able to eat slower BUT it’s not always going to happen that way. At least aim for twice a week to sit down with your meal and really enjoy it.

MINI STRETCH.
While you are working, try to step away from your desk at least once every hour. Even if you take a nice long stretch and look away from your computer or get a glass of water - it’ll help your body to take this mini break.

LAUGH AND GIGGLE.
Laugh as often as possible. Watch your favourite comedy or get together with a good friend and share some laughs. It really is the best medicine.

PRACTICE GRATITUDE.
When you wake up and open your eyes, note quietly one reason why you are grateful in that particular moment - it can be anything from your cozy warm bed to the sunshine to your ears, which are able to listen and hear music. And then before you go to sleep, once again note quietly one reason why you are grateful - it could be something that happened to you, something you accomplished, your family, etc.

MORNING RITUAL.
Create a morning ritual that you will enjoy and look forward to every day. A few ideas for morning rituals can include:
- say a short mantra or prayer
- read an inspirational quote
- practice gratitude
- meditation
- yoga stretches for 10 minutes
- listen to music
- drink one glass of water

RISE EARLY.
There’s something about waking up early to start your day. You won’t feel rushed and you might have time to sneak in a warm cup of coffee before getting the kiddos out the door for school.

PRACTICE SELF-CARE.
Find time for yourself at least once a week and pick something that you love to do, something new such as a new class or course, or simply just relax. You need to do this and take re-charge so you can take care of your family, business, etc.

ESSENTIAL OILS.
Diffuse essential oils that will help you relax, focus or unwind - depending on your mood.

DON’T SEND WHEN ANGRY.
Don’t send emails or text messages when you are angry. The ideal thing to do is write it out, let your feelings out and then delete it once the anger goes away.
