CITRUS: The Work That Found Me

By Trish, Owner & Creative Director of CITRUS

I did not start CITRUS from scratch. I came to it during a time when I was rethinking what I wanted my work and life to feel like. After years in the corporate world, I began to feel drawn toward something more grounded and personal. When the opportunity came to take over CITRUS, a Canadian jewelry brand founded in 2007, it felt less like starting something new and more like continuing a story already in motion.

The name CITRUS has always felt symbolic to me. It reflects brightness, energy, and renewal. Life is unpredictable, and even its sharper moments can be turned into something meaningful. That idea guides every piece we create. Each design is meant to hold memory close, whether it is a name, a word, or a moment someone wants to carry with them.

What stays with me most are the stories people share. A mother wearing her children’s initials, someone choosing a word that helped them through a difficult season, or a gift marking a new beginning. These pieces become part of their lives in ways I never could have planned.

The hardest part of this journey has been learning to trust myself. Moving from a structured corporate career into entrepreneurship meant letting go of perfection and learning as I went. I have learned that building something of your own is deeply personal work, and progress often comes from simply continuing forward.

Marketing has felt most natural when it comes from real connection. Conversations, storytelling, and community have mattered far more than chasing trends. That has shaped how the brand has grown.

Each day begins with a quiet moment of gratitude before moving into creative work. It helps me focus on building something meaningful rather than rushing through it.

To other women building something of their own, I would say begin before you feel ready. Confidence often follows action. Trust yourself, stay close to what feels true, and do not be afraid of getting it wrong along the way.

My smallest joy is my morning walk with my two Aussies, Henry and George, before the day begins and everything still feels open.

CITRUS is a Toronto based jewelry brand creating personalized pieces that let you wear your story and celebrate the moments that matter. Each piece is hand stamped in studio and crafted as a modern heirloom rooted in connection and meaning.
