HER STORY: Journey Back to Self
“I once reconnected with someone who said to me, “You are the same, but you are different.” That stayed with me. I was still myself, but more fully myself.”
Journey Back to Self
By Christina, Founder of Journey Back to Self
My work is rooted in one simple truth. When we remember who we are beneath the noise, we move through life with more connection, compassion, and self-trust. That remembering has been a quiet shift in my life. I believe more people are meant to live from their light, not their fear.
It began with noticing. Noticing that what once lit me up, designing intricate cakes, no longer felt aligned with what I wanted to offer. Instead, I felt most alive in conversations about identity, self-awareness, and embodiment. Conversations that left me with a sense of recognition, like something in me had been waiting for this all along.
Through coaching, reflection, and years of unlearning, I began to soften my inner dialogue. The pressure to constantly perform and measure up began to fall away. In its place came something steadier, a way of living grounded in trust and alignment.
The change was not dramatic at first, but it was clear. I once reconnected with someone who said to me, “You are the same, but you are different.” That stayed with me. I was still myself, but more fully myself.
I could not keep that experience to myself. I wanted others to feel it too, the quiet return to self that brings relief, ease, and clarity. In my work today, I witness small but powerful moments. A deep breath. A softened expression. A realization that something once pushed away was never missing, only forgotten.
The path has not been without doubt. I have wrestled with comparison and the pull to follow someone else’s version of success. But I keep returning to my own values, trusting that I do not need to rush what is still unfolding.
There are threads between my past work and what I do now. Designing cakes required listening closely and creating something deeply personal. Coaching asks the same of me, but now I stand beside people as they create their own path. I am not here to give answers. I am here to help them remember they already have them.
What I hope to offer is not instruction, but presence. A reminder that your way is already there, waiting to be trusted.
My petite joy is a photograph of myself as a child on my desk. It reminds me to speak gently to her, to keep showing up for her, and to make space for curiosity and play in the work I do now.
At the heart of it all, I am learning to move at a pace that allows things to take root. Not to optimize or outperform, but to listen more closely. To choose presence over pressure, and trust over certainty.
That is what I hope this work continues to hold. Space for reflection, space for courage, and space to return to yourself.
