HER STORY: A Sisterhood in Every Sip
“Quality over quantity has guided every decision we make.”
Behind the Legacy of Two Sisters Vineyards
Set among the vineyards of Niagara wine country, Two Sisters Vineyards began with a shared vision between sisters Angela and Melissa Marotta. What stands today as one of Canada’s most recognized wine estates started with a simple idea. Create a destination where wine, hospitality, and family come together.
Founded in 2007 and opened to guests in 2014, the estate was built with a clear ambition. Angela and Melissa wanted to present Niagara wines at the highest level while welcoming visitors into an experience that feels both grand and deeply personal.
For Angela, the foundation of Two Sisters Vineyards has always been rooted in long term vision and discipline. From strategic planning to vineyard operations and production standards, her focus remains on ensuring every vintage reflects the strength of the land itself.
Melissa brings the guest experience to life. Overseeing branding, marketing, and events, she works closely with the team to create moments that feel distinctive from arrival to final pour. Together, the sisters balance one another naturally, combining business insight with creative direction.
Their inspiration traces back to early memories of visiting Niagara and witnessing the connection between agriculture, food, and wine. When planting their estate within the Niagara River sub appellation, varietals were selected with intention toward the region’s character including Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, Riesling, and Sauvignon Blanc. Each vineyard block reflects both heritage and ambition.
Recognition has followed. Award winning vintages and international acclaim have positioned Two Sisters Vineyards among Canada’s leading producers, yet the philosophy behind the wines remains straightforward. Allow the vineyard and vintage to speak honestly through the glass while maintaining uncompromising standards from vine to bottle.
During the winter season, the estate takes on another atmosphere entirely. Guests gather at Kitchen76 for Italian inspired cuisine paired with estate wines, while private celebrations unfold within the barrel room surrounded by aging vintages and candlelit tables. The experience invites visitors to slow their pace and enjoy the season together over food and wine.
For women building businesses of their own, the sisters share practical advice shaped by experience. Growth should never outpace foundation. Focus first on quality, understand the business behind the dream, and allow reputation to grow naturally over time.
The next chapter is already underway. Stone Eagle Winery, set across thirty acres of vineyards, introduces an expansive new estate featuring underground cellar tasting spaces and destinations designed for private gatherings and celebrations. It marks another milestone in a legacy still unfolding.
At its heart, Two Sisters Vineyards remains exactly what its name suggests. A family vision brought to life through partnership, dedication, and a shared belief that great wine begins with connection.
